One of many positive news stories about Pennthorpe School I found, wrote and placed in local newspapers while a parent governor from 2013 to 2015. I also took the photo.
A travel piece in The Sun to promote Jordan tourism, from 2013.
A travel piece in The Sun to promote tourism in the French Alps, from 2016.
In 2007, Led Zeppelin were due to reform for a once-in-a-lifetime gig at London's O2. I suggested to a "rock school" company that they ran a Zeppelin theme weekend at a hotel where amateur musicians could learn and play the band's songs, with professional tutors, then behave like the stars -- throwing old TVs out of windows, riding Harley-Davidsons round the grounds and so on. They agreed so, to promote the event, I wrote this piece which ran across two pages of The Sun.
Our children's nursery nurse was offered a £100 prize if she came up with a new company logo. We talked over ideas and I scribbled our agreed design thinking her bosses would hire a graphic artist to tidy it up. Our entry won but they liked its roughness -- and used it unchanged on letterheads, uniforms and bags. The company then asked me to promote their new branding locally so I suggested a human-angle news story. My press release and photo ran on the front page of one local paper and in another's district news.
